Ryan Gagnier signs AHL deal with Rockford IceHogs

Oshawa, Ont., – The Oshawa Generals in partnership with the Rockford IceHogs are proud to announce the Chicago Blackhawks’ affiliate, has signed centre Ryan Gagnier to a one-year AHL contract beginning with the 2023-24 American Hockey League season.

Gagnier, 20, has spent the past four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League, where he has registered 53 goals and 60 assists for 113 points with 74 penalty minutes, 15 power play goals and 355 shots in 189 games with the Oshawa Generals. In 66 games with Oshawa this season, he has set career highs in goals, assists, and points with a stat line of 31-38-69, leading the way offensively for the Generals in his final OHL season.

“Oshawa treats and develops its players better than anywhere else,” said Gagnier. “All the tools to become a better person and hockey player are provided day in and day out. I’m grateful for my time spent there and am beyond excited to continue to do what I do within the Blackhawks organization.”

The 6.00, 186-pound Tecumseh, Ontario native made his OHL debut with Oshawa Generals in 2018-19, before spending his entire OHL career with the Generals. In his OA season, Gagnier won a number of team awards, including team MVP, Heart of a General, Community Service, Top Scorer, and Three Star Award.

The entire Oshawa Generals organization wishes Ryan nothing but the best in his continued hockey journey with the Rockford IceHogs.
