Serron Noel to play for Team Canada’s Under-18 Team at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup

Oshawa, ON– Hockey Canada announced today that Oshawa Generals forward Serron Noel has made Team Canada’s Under 18 team that will take part in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup.

Noel was selected by the Oshawa Generals during the 2nd round, 25th overall in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection. Noel scored 8 goals, 13 assists for 21 points while suiting up for 63 games his rookie season.

At the Hockey Canada Selection Camp this past weekend, Noel suited up for Team White for three games where he recorded a goal.

“It is great that Serron has been selected. From all accounts, he got better as camp went on. With this, Hockey Canada is getting a great power forward” said Vice President and General Manager Roger Hunt.

Unfortunately, Allan McShane, who was also at the camp, picked up an injury that limited his ice time in Calgary and unfortunately took him out of the running to be named to the team.

“I feel terrible for Allan getting an injury at this time. Unfortunately, these things happen. It is something he will deal with and we are excited to get him back and healthy for the start of our season” said Hunt.

The 2017 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup will run from August 7-12th in Breclav, Czech Republic and Bratislava, Slovakia.
