NHL Draft 2018 Preview: Allan McShane

McShane was traded to the Generals in January of last year in his rookie season and has been a key contributor in the lineup ever since. The OHL first round selection in his first full season with the Generals reached the 20-goal mark for the first time in his career and finished with a season best of 65 points.

For the 2017-18 season, McShane was nominated for the William Hanley Trophy for Most Sportsmanlike Player of the Year in the OHL and was named to the OHL 2017-18 Scholastic Team as the Generals representative.

McShane has played for Team Canada twice in his career, first at the U17 Hockey Challenge suiting up with Team Canada Black earning a silver medal and leading the team in scoring. This past spring, he played for Canada at the U18 World Championships, again leading the team in scoring at the tournament.

Leading into the 2018 NHL Draft, McShane took part in the NHL Combine held in Buffalo the first weekend in June, giving the team’s a chance to interview him and assess his physical fitness. An event attended with other top prospects for this year’s draft, players look to impress NHL clubs heading into draft weekend. In final NHL Central Scouting rankings, McShane sat 50th for North American skaters.

The NHL Draft will take place in Dallas, Texas June 22nd and 23rd 2018. Stay tuned to the Generals social media for draft coverage during the weekend.
