Generals Goalie Daniel Altshuller Caught in a Storm

Oshawa This Week - Shawn Cayley

Daniel Altshuller wasted little time in getting familiar with his new surroundings.

The Oshawa Generals goaltender is in Carolina this week cutting his teeth with the Hurricanes after they selected him in the third round, 69th overall in last weekend's NHL entry draft.

For Altshuller, the whole process, from leaving his family home in Nepean last week to head to Pittsburgh for the draft and then jetting off to Carolina, has been something to savour.

"It was amazing. I remember when they called my name, I didn't believe it at first. It's hard to explain how you feel. It's a bunch of emotions. You're happy, you can't really describe it, but it does sum up all the work you've done your whole life towards hockey," he said Tuesday night over the phone from his hotel in Raleigh.
