GAME PREVIEW: GENS 21st ANNUAL TEDDY BEAR TOSS GAME TONIGHT AT 6:05PM AGAINST SPITFIRES

The Generals close out the weekend in the back half of their double header tonight against the Windsor Spitfires in the 21st annual Teddy Bear Toss game! Heading into the contest, the Gens hold a 17-8-2-0 record after a huge 5-0 win at home yesterday against the Kingston Frontenacs, picking up their seventh win in the past eight games. The team will look to keep their offense rolling tonight and send the teddy confetti raining down onto the ice.

Tonight’s matchup marks the second time Oshawa will line up against the Spitfires this season. In the first meeting between the two clubs, the Gens came away with a 5-2 victory on the road with big performances from Serron Noel and Nando Eggenberger. Noel recorded a 4-point night, notching 2 goals and 2 assists while Eggenberger added a goal and 2 assists to help lead the Gens offense. The two forwards will look to do the same up front tonight in the team’s second tilt and first at home against the Spits.

With their incredible stretch of wins, the Gens remain near the top of the eastern conference. Sitting at 36 points on the season, Oshawa holds third place in the conference and second place in total points behind the Ottawa 67’s. Meanwhile, the Windsor Spitfires find themselves in the middle of the pack in the western conference, holding a record of 13-13-1-1 on the season. Looking to keep up their winning ways, the Gens will aim to down the western conference foes and grab another 2 points tonight.

After yesterday afternoon’s 5-0 win over Kingston and an amazing shutout effort from Kyle Keyser, two Gens players with impressive performances included forward Allan McShane and defenseman Giovanni Vallati. Potting 2 goals and adding an assist in the victory, McShane was a big part of the surging Gens offense. With 7 goals in his last 8 contests, McShane is on fire as of late and will look to keep up his hot streak tonight. Giovanni Vallati led the way on the blue line yesterday after also scoring 2 goals to increase his total on the year to 6 goals and 17 points. The defenseman will look to carry his momentum into tonight’s game and continue to contribute from the back end.

Tonight’s tilt at the Tribute Communities Centre is a special one, as it’s the 21st annual Teddy Bear Toss game! Don’t forget to bring your new bears in clear, plastic bags and be ready to throw them onto the ice after the first Oshawa goal! The event is in support of the Durham Children’s Aid Foundation and each new bear will be donated to the program to help children and youth in the Durham Region. Our thanks goes to Door to Door Movers who will be helping with the delivery of the bears.

Along with the toss, you can purchase a Game Day program at tonight’s game to receive a signed card by Danil Antropov for the Signature Player Card Series!
