Tonight, the Oshawa Generals play host to the Peterborough Petes in their second to last meeting of the regular season. With the season series win already secured (5-1-0-0 record), the Generals will look to continue their recent dominance against the Petes as they aim for their sixth straight victory over their long-standing rival.

Both the Gens and Petes are coming off games yesterday and each will be searching for a valuable two points. Peterborough has lost 10 of their last 12 games but still remains in the hunt for the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, Oshawa is in the mix with Niagara, North Bay and Ottawa for the fifth position in the Eastern Conference and the coveted advantage of home ice in the playoffs. This season the Generals have tallied nine short-handed goals from six different players and have a 7-2 record when they do. In the last two games against the Petes, both Matt Brassard and Hayden McCool had a short-handed goal en route to a Gens victory. McCool leads the team with three shorties and Brassard’s only one most memorably came on a penalty shot while the Gens were on the PK. The Gens have shown that they can manufacture offence in a variety of situations and they will look to carry that over as they aim to end the weekend on a winning note.
