Tonight, the Oshawa Generals will put their 6-game win streak up against the league-leading Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds in their second meeting of the season. The two teams first met in the Greyhounds home opener at the beginning of the season where the Gens handed the Soo their first of three regulation losses this season.

While the Generals extended their win streak to six games, the league-leading Greyhounds had their 23-game win streak snapped by the Mississauga Steelheads in a shootout loss last night. With Oshawa gaining traction in the competitive East Division this game will serve as a great challenge for a team that is starting to hit their stride and find some consistency, particularly on home ice. Special teams will likely be a key factor as the home team will take on an opponent that has the third-best road powerplay and ranks eighth on the penalty kill on the road. However, during their home win streak, the Gens PK unit has gone 12-for-14 and the PP unit has gone 4-for-11. Another reason for their recent success has been the dominant play of their captain Jack Studnicka. In his last 6 games, Studnicka has recorded 1 goal and 12 assists for 13 points, putting together an impressive streak of his own. With the home team searching for another win on home ice, they will rely on the superior play-making ability of their red-hot captain. As for the defence, the Gens will lean on Kyle Keyser who has been spectacular since returning from injury in early December. Since his return, Keyser has averaged a save percentage over 0.900 and has a 2.94 goals against average. On New Year’s Day Kyle posted his first career OHL shutout in a 38 save performance against the Battalion and will look to carry over that momentum heading into tonight’s matchup.

Tonight’s game day sponsor is Winmar! Be sure to check out their table on the concourse and keep an eye out for a special intermission activity!
