Oshawa Hall of Fame Chairperson Dan Walerowich will welcome yet another all-star roster at the 27th anniversary induction ceremonies being conducted at the GM Centre on May 30th.
Entering the hall of fame are hockey legends Al "Beefy' Bathe, Wayne Daniels, Roy Sawyer, softball's Don Bracey and multi-sports guru Bob Dionne.
To date the hall has inducted 185 individuals and teams, covering 43 different sports.
Bathe and Daniels are proud fathers of retired NHL'ers. Frank Bathe (Al's son) played nine years with Detroit and Philadelphia while Jeff (Wayne's boy), after completing his Generals career, became a Stanley Cup champion for Carolina.
The similarities continue between the two inductees. Both developed their skills within the local minor hockey system. Daniels was a standout goaltender and worked as trainer in lacrosse with the Green Gael juniors and later with the Crushman and Gens. Eventually he was promoted as the Gens general manager. His illustrious career finally ended as an NHL scout with Pittsburgh and Ottawa. Two years earlier his son Jeff was an inductee in to Oshawa hall.
