CHL IMPORT DRAFT 2017

The CHL import draft took place this morning June 28th at 11.

The Oshawa Generals used their 40th pick in round 1 to select Swiss defenseman Nico Gross. The 6-foot 183-pound defensman played for Zug U20 team in the Elite Jr. A league. He played a total of 33  games last season assisting with 9 goals. Gross competed at the international level in the 2017 World Juniors for team Switzerland and also at the 2017 U18 World Championship. Nico will be eligible for the 2018 NHL draft next year.

“We benefited from Nico being in our building at Christmas time during the pre-comp camp, this gave our hockey staff and I a chance to see him skate practice and play.”  Said Oshawa Generals General Manger/ Vice President Roger Hunt following the draft.

Today was a very exciting day for Oshawa as we increased our team’s skill and make a push towards next season. There is still work ahead to get players in Oshawa and continue building to prepare for the next chapter of the team’s history as we embark on the 81st season.
