20th Anniversary of the Teddy Bear Toss is Sunday vs. Saginaw

This Sunday, the tradition continues as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Teddy Bear Toss in Oshawa presented by Active Green+Ross . During our final game of the weekend against Saginaw, fans will eagerly anticipate the first Gens goal of the game to let the teddy confetti fly! In the 19 years prior that the Teddy Bear Toss has been held, a total of over 66,000 teddy bears have been thrown and collected for the Holiday Hope program with the Durham Children’s Aid Foundation.

The program provides gift hampers to approximately 2,000 children and youth in Durham Region. Each hamper includes new toys, books, clothing, household items, and a food voucher. The program supports children of all ages, including older youth, many of whom live independently. The Generals are so happy to be apart of this event and donate the teddies collected from the evening to the program in the true spirit of holiday giving. In the weeks leading up to the game, Gens goaltender Cole Ceci and defenceman Ian Blacker shopped for families to which the Holiday Hope baskets are donated.

This year, we ask that bears brought to the game to be donated be new bears only. All the bears from the night are collected and looked over before being given to their new homes. New bears are the other ones that will pass the test and make their way to a deserving family.

Who do you think will get the goal this year and make the teddies rain down? Find out Sunday!
